Virginia Creeper Trail...

Check out this website. This is where I'm going this weekend to go riding! Since this is my first time I'm only riding DOWN hill. I would like to try and do the ride up. :) Hey! What can I say? I've got to get ready for my big bike ride in September.
http://www.vacreepertrail.com/ I'll be sure and post pictures when I get home.

So, I went to BestBuy tonight and went ahead and bought a Family Tree Maker program. I still want to trace my roots! I haven't loaded it yet. Gotta sit here and get it loaded in a little while.

Check back soon...

Stockner Homestead

Ok, here's som pics from my trip up to Fancy Gap, VA yesterday. This is the Stockner Family home (on my mom's side). And here are som other pics...my great great grandparents and then my great great great grandmother!

This is Eli Stockner and Sarah Jane Easter Stockner...

... and this is Nancy Horton Stockner.

I really enjoyed myself yesterday.... just walking around the grounds and through the old house. It's kinda hard to believe it's still standing. I feel truly blessed to be able to reach out and "touch" a piece of the past. Know what I mean?

Ok, here's one more...this is a picture of a picture of the house taken "way back when"....

Well, I pretty much have spent the entire weekend searching for family information on ancestry.com. I've made some contacts in the family and have gotten alot of information. Still trying to find info on my Mamaw's dad - George Schenck. Not having much luck there.
I'm planning on driving up to Fancy Gap tomorrow to go to the family Homestead. This would be on my mother's side. That name is Stockner. I'm looking forward to getting some more information.
I hope to get some pictures tomorrow too - at least some pictures of the old home. I haven't been up there in years. It will be interesting to see if it still looks like I remember. The family cemetery is very close by. My cuz Gregg and I spent the night up there with our Aunt Grace one Halloween! OOooooh. It was fun though.
I did get out and go bike riding with my cuz Johnathan today. We rode for about an hour. It was fun. I always feel so much better after I've gotten out and gotten some exercise, it's just getting myself motivated to GET OUT and DO it! LOL
I don't know if you've (whoever you are reading this) ever noticed that the older you get you seem to crave information about past generations. Maybe that's just me. Who knows. I remember as a kid all that stuff was "boring" and now how I wish these family members were still around to tell their stories! So, I'm going to do my best to get as much information as I can and put it on my ancestry.com family tree. You should check it out and start your own family tree. They have a 3 day full access trial period - check it out.

Yawn, ok I'm getting sleepy and probably making my "readers" sleepy as well. :)
Check in later..........

Holiday Weekend

Oh how I love these long weekends!

So, I've been on Ancestry.com for HOURS! It's really cool and they have a 3 day free period!http://ancestry.com

I'm thinking it's getting time to turn in. I can barely keep my eyes open!
Well, I guess that's about all I've got for now.
G'nite!

Another week goes by...

So, another week has passed. Not much new going on.

My niece Vonni had her 4-k graduation program Thursday night! She was so cute! Stephanie and her boyfriend Russell went with me. Vonnie LOVEs Russell. She was really surprised to see him there. It's funny.

I can't believe she's already 5! But then look at how fast the time has gone - my baby is 17!!
I'm so proud of her too. We have our typical "mother-daughter" moments from time to time. She still says and does things that crack me up. I call them "Stephanie-isms". LOL We were talking about them the other night, actually. Several years ago, one of her friends was going out of state somewhere and Steph told her she had to get a shot to go out of state. I guess you had to be there. She comes up with some good ones though.

Here's a pic of me, Steph and my new niece Ginia (like Virginia but w/out the Vir). She such a cutie-pie! She's growing like a weed - getting chunky!

MS Bike Ride - Breakaway to the Beach

So, I've added a link to my site on the MS webpage where you can go to and donate. There's also alot of other information there. The bike ride is in September. You can also sign up there and join the Wachovia team and ride with us! I think it's going to be alot of fun!
So there's the challenge...donate, ride or volunteer!
And definitely come down and cheer me on! :)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. Hope you're having a good day.

So, yesterday was my big 13-mile bike ride. huff-huff-huff! I DID IT! It was awesome! I still can't believe I did all that in a little less that 2 hours! It felt more like I rode 100-miles! LOL
I really saw some neat places in Charlotte on my little trek. Some cool old neighborhoods with beautiful homes over in the Plaza/Midwood area (I think that's the name of that area).
I started off being the leader of the "Back of the Pack" and didn't take too long to be bringing up the rear! LOL It was about 4 or 5 miles in and I was trailing at the back.
But not bad for my first "real" bike ride!
At one point towards the end of the ride, there was a van pulling a trailer that went around me just a LITTLE TOO CLOSE! I could feel the heat from the vehicle on my ear! That's why I won't be riding the streets by myself anytime soon!
I have to say that I am looking forward to my big bike ride in September down at Myrtle Beach! I was told that there are rest stops about every 6 to 8 miles for that one, where as this one yesterday I had to ride a whole 10 miles before we had a rest stop!
I was going to try and take pics yesterday, but my camera wouldn't fit in my bag (my camel back pack). I need just a little digital camera to take with me for stuff like that.
Well, getting ready to head to my aunts for lunch. Gotta stop and pick up some chicken.
Later...

Bike Ride Tomorrow

http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/transportation/special+programs/bike+charlotte+2005.htmOk, so I have a bike ride tomorrow. I signed up for the Bike Charlotte event tomorrow. My goal is to get in at least 10 to 13 miles. I was going to try for the 25 miles, but I forgot I have some IRW training tomorrow as well. So, I'm going to have to pedal fast! LOL
I'm hoping we don't get rain tomorrow - that if it's going to rain, it will come during the night and be gone in the morning. We'll see...

I'm planning on taking my camera - maybe I'll have some pictures to share later.
I also will be working on attaching a link to my blog for the MS Bike Ride that I'm doing in September. It's at Myrtle Beach - 150 miles! No, I don't think I'll make the whole 150, but we'll see .... It's a 2 day event and my goal right now is to get in 30 miles each day. Not bad for the first time ever doing something like this. I'm really looking forward to it though.

Ok, so I'm off to bed here in a few.

Peace.

It's Official

Ok, it's official, I don't have a CLUE what I'm doing here! LOL.
I don't like the way my blog is looking so far, but do you think I can find my way to where I can change the "Look"? Not yet.

I was going to post some pics....can't find where to do that either. LOL

But I know that right now I'm the only one looking at this... hee-hee
I've found another way of talking to myself.
Now, "that's funny right there, I don't care who you are". LOL
Yes, I like Larry the Cable Guy... (most of his stuff, anyway)

Ok, so back to search through this web site and try to see if I can make any changes to this "A Day In The Life Of Me" thing...

***Update***

I've made some changes and added some links....what do you think so far?
Still trying to get a picture uploaded correctly.

First Time Blogging

Ok, so I thought I would try my hand at creating a blog.
I love reading other's blogs so we'll see what I can come up with that will be interesting enough to share with others. LOL

So, bare with me as I try to figure out what I'm doing here.

I will also post pictures soon.

Thanks,

Cindy
