Ride 4 Life
Yeah, I was supposed to do the 50K but when I FINALLY got to the break in the road where the 50K went one way and the 25K went another, I took the 25K route back. I have to admit that I just was not prepare for those MOUNTAINOUS hills out there in the country! I was huffin' and puffin' and finally had to get off and walk my bike up a couple of the hills. But I got back on and finished the 25K. It was really hot and humid. It was "fun" though.
I don't have any pics, as I didn't take my camera.
Well that's about all I have to post for now. Thanks for "listening". :)

Weekend Camping Trip in Virginia
Yes, we're crazy! Truckers from both directions were blowing their horns!
We FINALLY made it to our destination - Beartree Camp Ground up around Damascus, VA. Ohh, it was quite chilly up there. We got everything set up, started the camp fire and cooked some hot dogs over the fire. Pretty cool. I was so ready to go to bed! As soon as it started getting dark - I couldn't wait to crawl in my sleeping bag. I slept like a log too! (After my screaming out in my sleep episode!) ha/ha And...I NEVER heard Pat snoring! Sometime during the night it started raining. I have to say that I loved that sound of the rain coming through the trees and hitting the tent. One night in a tent was good for me though. Thanks Frank and Pam for putting this all together and inviting me to go with your family!
So on Sunday, we headed down into Damascus to load up our bikes on a trailer, board a van and head BACK UP the mountain all the way to White Top (?) and ride our bikes the 17 miles back to town. Yep, IN THE RAIN! About the time we got to the top, DOWN POUR! But we were not the only crazy nuts out there. There was another van load of people out to endure the heavy rain. It was hard to complain because we need rain so bad. At least it wasn't thundering and lightening. The boys (Riley and Brady) got to ride in these little cover carts. Frank pulled Brady and Pat pulled Riley. Off we go! I was with Alley, Nathan (her boyfriend) and Treacy for a little bit. We were BOOKING it down the mountain! I turned around and the rest of our gang was no where to be seen, so I pulled over and stopped. Finally here comes Frank and Brady. No Pam, Pat, Riley, or Christy. I waited. and waited some more. ha/ha. Finally, here they come. I started off again and got a ways down and turned around. Nobody there. I was wet and cold so I decided to just keep going. I passed some of the people who had been in the other van and just kept trucking it! A little later I hear someone say they were passing on my left so I was trying to make sure I was staying as far right as I could when, BAM! Wet tree limb in the right eye! OUCH! I just kept going. About 20 minutes later I see a limb and duck, but BAM! Left eye! I just had to laugh to myself b/c there was noone around to laugh at me at that point! (I did go to the eye doctor today - no bad damage! Thank goodness.)
Ok, well I finally come to a rock overhang and think, I'll pull over here so I won't get wet and wait up for the stragglers. People came and went...not my group. Finally, there's Frank and Brady. They stop for a minute and no sign of the stragglers. So we started up and I turn around and I'm alone again. hee-hee. But even in the rain it is truly amazing the beauty of God's creation! I was wet, MUDDY, cold and miserable, but it was still "fun". I wanted to take pictures but I was afraid to take my camera out in the rain, so I missed some GREAT shots!
Finally about 10 hours later...ha/ha...not really I think closer to 2 or 3, I arrived back in Damascus. Treacy, Alley and Nathan were at the bike shop drying off! I had to go to water hose and rinse down. My shoes were caked in black mud, my back pack, my pants. I just threw my socks away. They were not white anymore. It was an experience to say the least, but I would definitely go back and ride it again....only hopefully in better weather. Here are a few pictures of AFTER the ride.
Look at Pat's back... that what we were all covered with! It was caked on thick all over my bike too! But all-in-all it was good. We had a good time (I did) and had alot of laughs.
